the story of a tree – in honor of earth day

When I first started my business in 2008, one of the very first things that I did was hire a graphic designer to create my logo.  I had an idea of what I wanted going into the design process – a tree to represent growth and family and hearts to represent the love and relationships within the family.  My designer delivered exactly what I was looking for… and it was more perfect than I could have ever imagined.

I get many compliments on my tree of Cs (and I’m always happy to hear them because I love my tree of Cs too).  The first thing that everyone notices are my initials – CC – Cindy Chen, right in the center of the tree leaves.  But there is actually more to it than just that.  The tree is made up of four Cs and so is my family.  My husband and I, along with our two little ones all have names that start with the letter C.  Two big Cs and two little Cs… just like my logo.  And the three hearts represent my three loves, my husband, son and daughter.   I love my logo has a personal meaning to me, yet at the same time, describes my style of photography – sweet and happy, playful and unique – perfectly.

So today, on Earth Day, don’t forget to hug a tree and celebrate the earth.  I will be hugging my tree today.  : )

baby l

9 days old and oh so sweet. Meet Baby L.

baby boy wrapped in knit cocoon with homemade bunting banner with his name

Baby L’s mommy handcrafted the banner that you see hanging in the image above.  She is an uber-talented scrapbooker (who by the way, has a scrapbook room that would make even a scrapbook store envious – I loved it)!   The banner is going in his already adorable nursery.  Speaking of nursery, how cute are these little woodland friends?  I just want to pet that cute little owl on the crib bumper!

Here are a few more from Baby L’s session.  I have to choose carefully when I decide what to post on my newborn sneak peeks so that I don’t ruin the surprise for birth annoucements.

On a side note, I am heading to Las Vegas later today to attend WPPI – a convention and trade show for wedding and portrait photographers.   I will be back in the office on Wednesday, February 23, 2011.

a future golfer

Even though he’s only 12 days old, I am pretty sure that this litte guy will love the game of golf, just like his Mommy and Daddy.
(And I’m sure he will also love living in Southern California… thank you mother nature for allowing me to take pictures of a newborn outside in January!  Amazing!)

Sleeping newborn baby with golf ball on the green

I had the joy of spending the afternoon with this little love last week.  He was so good for his first photo shoot… he barely made a peep, and when he did, he quickly went right back to sleep!  He had lots of smiles too and newborn smiles make my heart happy.  He is such a cute little peanut!
