I like donuts. I think they are yummy. I know that they aren’t the healthiest thing to eat, but I do like donuts.
Actually, I have a bond with donuts.
When I was growing up, my dad would buy donuts for us every Sunday morning and without fail, I might add. Seriously, every . single . Sunday there would be a pink box of a dozen fresh donuts. I used to go with him to the local donut shop and pick out the ones I wanted (usually that was a strawberry cruller or chocolate with sprinkles). He’d fill up the remaining dozen with an assortment of glazed twists, chocolate and maple bars, and buttermilk donuts. Next, we’d head to the local 7-11 store where he’d pick up a Sunday newspaper (the San Francisco Chronicle because I grew up in the Bay Area) and then he would let me pick out one candy, whichever candy I wanted, and buy it for me. Back when I was in elementary school, there was no Sweet Factory, and to this day, I still think 7-11 has one of the best candy selections out there. I loved this little Sunday tradition with my dad and probably love it even more now that I am older.
See? Told you I had a bond with donuts.
And if you are wondering, my dad still gets donuts for him and my mom on Sundays.
So what does my little donut story have to do with anything? The theme of week 5 of the Project 52 that I am participating in is food! This morning, my family had breakfast at Krispy Kreme at the request of my almost 6 year old. How can I say no to donuts on Sunday? I can’t. And I especially can’t say no to my favorite, chocolate with sprinkles.

And of course a little Starbucks!
