the big one | orange county baby photographer

This post is a special one.  Sebastian’s mom is a dear friend and one of my first clients when I began my photography business last year.  I’ve had the opportunity to photograph the little guy in utero, as a brand new baby, and last week, for his one year photos.   The W family is moving to China at the end of the month and I was so happy we were able to have his session before they left.   It has been such a honor to watch this little guy grow up and to document his first year of life.

Happy in the leaves.
(Contrary to poplular belief, some places do have fall in Southern California!)

I think mom is the funniest person in the world.  She makes my heart feel super happy.

Wishing I could walk… but because I can’t just yet, mom’s always ready to help out.  Yay!

Handsome little man.

And luckily for scheduling, Dad was is town so we were able to take a few family pictures too.
The finale to this sneak peek!

Thanks again for choosing me to photograph your adorable son and gorgeous family.
Best of luck with your move to Shanghai.  I still can’t believe you are leaving!  You will be missed by many!

procrastinators unite! | holiday mini sessions in orange county

Still haven’t taken your holiday photos?  Still want to?

I have added a few days/times for holiday mini sessions in the month of November!
All mini sessions will be in/around the Ladera Ranch, CA area (which if you haven’t been here, it is beautiful).  Please contact Cindy Chen Photography for available dates and times.  There aren’t many mini sessions spots open so if you would like one, don’t delay!  You can find all of our mini session information here.  Prints and holiday cards from the November mini sessions will be available before Christmas, however specialty items (mounts, canvases, albums) may not be delivered until January 2010.

And here is something fun for my clients and blog readers!
After you’ve booked your session, the next question in the heads of most mom’s (and probably some dad’s too), is what are we going to wear?  With the arrival of Fall in Southern California (wishful thinking right, with this crazy hot/cold/rain/hot/cold we’ve been having here the last few weeks), here are some ideas for outfits for the entire family.  There are many great places to shop for the family that show off stlye and personality.  I’m happy to assist you with clothing choices for your session so please don’t hesistate to ask!

Enjoy these last few days of October.  Before you know it, we’ll be full swing in the hustle and bustle of the holidays!

happy fun family | newport beach family photographer

When mom and I started talking about ideas for her upcoming family session, I was excited.  She had so many fun things
she wanted to encorporate into the shoot and already had the perfect location picked out…. the Balboa Fun Zone in Newport Beach.   A perfect spot for modern, fun, beachy and boardwalk… all in one!

Before the Fun Zone opened for the day, we headed to the beach to take advantage of the overcast morning sky.
This is the very first shot of the day… numero uno.  And whenI saw it, I knew it would be going on my sneak peek.
This is J, who didn’t like having his picture taken (as many 3 year old boys don’t)… until Sunday.
Look at that smile!

And his sweet little sister… recognize those cute pigtails?
She was on the go, go, go!

Another one of my friend J.  He was in his element at the beach.

Our next stop was the Fun Zone and, let me tell you, we had fun!!  This family enjoys a good time!
A ferry ride, arcade games (in two arcades!), prizes, a carousel ride, and cotton candy… all before lunch!
There are so many images that I couldn’t decide what I wanted to post, so here is one of an arcade favorite.

And a few more images to wrap up this sneak peek.  There are so many cool locations to shoot in the surrounding alleys.

The little miss was so exicted when she picked some flowers to give to mommy.

I’m saving most of the family shots for the gallery, since it is holiday card season.
But since it was a family session, I couldn’t resist sharing just one.  Happy and fun (and one of my faves so far)!

Thank you M family for waiting so patiently for your sneak peek.  Can’t wait to show you the rest!
I had a blast spending the day with you guys!
