let’s play! | ladera ranch child photographer

Let’s play… and give hugs to our cute, sleeping kitty.

… and run through the grass and pick flowers from the yard.

We can play mommy too and push around a baby carriage (shhh, kitty sleeping).
And since we’re outside, we should do some gardening - the flowers need watering and we should pick just a few more too.

Playtime is fun time. Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is such a wonderful thing!

Depending on how long you’ve been a reader of my blog, you might remember a post I did a few months ago about the pineapple we are growing in our backyard.  In that blog post (which was four months ago!) a small flower finally bloomed, after FOUR YEARS of sitting in the dirt.  And here we are today.

We have a pineapple! It’s a mini pineapple, but still, it’s a pineapple! It’s not fully ripe (at least we don’t think) and it’s SLOWLY growing bigger so we’ll be waiting a while longer before eating it.  My greenthumb wishes I could say I had more to do with it, but it just did it’s own thing, in it’s own time.  I will post again when it’s time to harvest!

ladera ranch family campout 2010 | ladera ranch family photographer

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of being the photographer for Ladera Ranch’s 1st ever Family Campout.  What an amazing event!  I know I’ve said this before but Ladera Ranch has awesome activities for the community and this no doubt, was one of them. It was very cool to see Chaparral Park became a campsite overnight, filled with families, their tents and camping gear.

Dinner for the event was provided by In and Out. Yum!

There was lots of activities and so many fun things that added to the camp experience… games for the kids (and the adults too), arts and craft to be made, sing-a-longs with the camp counselors, horseshoes and basket Frisbee were just a few.  And of course, hanging out and spending time with family, friends and good company was at the top of the list for many.  So many kids were having a blast playing in their tents!

Once it got dark, the lanterns came on and the glow sticks came out and moms and dads toasted marshmallows on the campfire to make smores for everyone.  What a perfect way to spend a summer evening… under the stars with a community of family and friends!  Can’t wait for the family campout again next year!

I’ll be photographing another event for Ladera Ranch next month… the Mutt Mingle on September 18th at Wagsdale Park.
Hope to see you and your pup there!
